Goodwill to open first store in Franklin on Jan. 15

Secondhand shoppers can soon buy gently-used merchandise with the opening of the first Goodwill store in the Franklin community. Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana will celebrate the grand opening of the Franklin store, 1530 N. Morton St., at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15. This will mark Goodwill's 39th retail store and its second in Johnson County.

Shoppers visiting the new location will have a chance to win $50 gift certificates Jan. 15-17 and can register to win an iPod or portable DVD player Jan. 15-24. Two of each will be given away as prizes.

“For the last several years, we have received a tremendous amount of donations at the attended donation center (ADC) in the community,” said Robert Rienhart, a new Franklin Goodwill Store team leader. “Franklin residents have been anticipating this opening for a while, and I know that they will embrace us with open arms.”

Since 2003, Reinhart managed the Franklin ADC, where he supervised a team of three employees, as well as, accepted and processed donations.

The Franklin Goodwill Store will occupy the former Golden Corral restaurant and boasts 13,000 square feet, three checkout lanes, a donation drive-thru center and 16 employees.

The Franklin ADC, which opened in September 2003, will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. All donations will be accepted at the new retail store.

Goodwill auto auctions scheduled

Goodwill auto auctions are scheduled for most Saturdays throughout the year. Upcoming auction dates are:

All auctions start at noon and are conducted at the Marion County Auction, 1300 S. Tibbs Ave., Indianapolis. Previews of the vehicles are available from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. the Friday before the auction at the South Tibbs site. A listing is available by clicking here.
