Goodwill works one-on-one with people who need help finding and keeping jobs. Goodwill operates many programs in numerous locations so that job-seekers can access a wide variety of options.

Whichever location, job-seekers can expect the Goodwill staff to work one-on-one to devise a plan that is customized to the employment goals and abilities of the individual.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED Preparation
Adult Basic Education class offers individualized instruction in reading, math and writing skills, as well as General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preparation. Classes are taught by Indianapolis Public Schools staff at the Goodwill Michigan Street location.

Disability Services
Individuals with disabilities receive intensive, individualized assistance finding and keeping jobs with the support of Goodwill staff using nationally recognized processes. Counseling, paid on-the-job training and job-retention services are available. Goodwill employment specialists provide ongoing support for both employees and employers.

General assistance finding a job
Goodwill has many materials and resources to conduct a job search. People can use our resource centers on their own or with assistance from Goodwill staff. Some of the services include: computers for writing résumés and cover letters, access to the Internet and computerized job banks, telephones for employer contacts, the latest job openings and company profiles

Supported Employment
Individuals with disabilities receive intensive, individualized assistance finding and keeping jobs with the support of Goodwill staff using nationally recognized processes. Counseling, paid on-the-job training and job retention services are available. Goodwill employment specialists provide ongoing support for both employees and employers.

Transitional Employment
Employment opportunities and work experience are available through Goodwill's Commercial Services Division. Individuals are hired as employees of Goodwill and may work in a variety of settings. The goal of transitional employment is to give individuals work experience so that that they are able to transition into other jobs that will enhance their self-sufficiency.

Work Experience
Individuals in Work Experience develop work skills in an industrial setting at Goodwill while working with a case manager to develop an Individual Program Plan to identify and achieve their personal goals.

Youth Services
A team of Goodwill staff is dedicated to helping young people explore career fields, learn job-finding skills and find the support from other agencies they need to succeed in life.

Customized Employment/Supported Self-Employment Programs (Click here for flier)
The Customized Employment Program (Marion County only) and Supported Self-Employment Program (Shelby and Hancock counties only) assist individuals with disabilities in becoming self-employed. Individuals receive training, assistance developing a business plan and ongoing case management support.

Important note: The terms of some parole and probation restrictions specify that individuals may not visit facilities where children are present. Goodwill operates a high school at its Michigan Street office. Individuals who are restricted from coming into contact with children should contact their case manager, probation officer or parole officer.

Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)
The Senior Community Service Employment Program provides job training and placement for people with limited financial resources who are age 55 or older, and provides employers with trained, motivated workers.
