Noblesville Store,
Retail Store of the Year Award

Teamwork and a dedication to Goodwill’s mission are what Store Manager Sherry Gather believes make the Noblesville Goodwill Store successful.

The store is committed to hiring people with disabilities and other barriers to employment, and there are many success stories. Jennifer Lapoint, Constance McClure and Chris Berg are three of them.

Jennifer, a single mom who has a hearing disability, has many roles at the store, including placing items on the sales floor, sorting clothing, and pricing. “I like the people I work with and the customers,” Jennifer said.

Constance, another single mother who has a neurological disorder, removes clothing from the sales floor and stocks the soda and candy displays, earning her the nickname, “candy girl.” At first, Constance was shy, but other employees helped her gain self-confidence. “Goodwill has helped me better myself,” she says.

Chris works several jobs, including greeting customers and picking up clothing and other items off the floor with an adaptive tool. “They love me here,” Chris says, “and that just means a lot to me.”

Sherry is proud of all the employees at the Noblesville store.

“To see Jennifer, Constance, and Chris succeed means that we’re doing our job. We’re supporting Goodwill’s mission,” she says. “Knowing that their disabilities don’t stand in their way, I would hope that would help them throughout their lives.”
